PROJECT

Ergonomics and Usability of Electro-Mechanical Auto-Injector

Electro-Mechanical Auto-Injector

CHALLENGE

Ergonomics Studies indicated users preferred a different device orientation than the device that was in the middle of its design cycle and needed to be rapidly changed to lessen schedule impact.

ACCELERATE

Rapid prototyped a functional unit to confirm User-Study’s claims. Impact to current design was evaluated to determine how to minimize changes. Design was expedited and quickly developed concurrently and in parallel to the ongoing development.

RESULT

With an accelerated design cycle the changes were made and merged into the ongoing design with minimal impact to the overall schedule. Successfully pivoting a key parameter of the device.

PROJECT

Ruggedized Case
for MIL-STD-810G

CHALLENGE

Expensive and fragile electronic components were cracking when drop tested.s

ACCELERATE

Case was hardened for drop-testing along with protective rubber over-molded areas added. The internal suspension system and thermal management system was analyzed.

RESULT

With an accelerated design cycle the changes were made and merged into the ongoing design with minimal impact to the overall schedule. Successfully pivoting a key parameter of the device.

PROJECT

Thermal and vibrational analysis of handheld interferometer

 handheld interferometer

CHALLENGE

The handpiece of an interferometric 3D laser scanner needed to perform throughout its operating temperature range.

ACCELERATE

Using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) the device was analyzed for thermal induced component perturbations at the sub-micron level. Then its first 10 fundamental frequencies were identified and reviewed.

RESULT

After testing and iterations failure rates were significantly reduced. Advice was given to further improve the internal suspension system.

Accelerate Design helped me with significant engineering support for the design and prototyping of a novel handheld medical device in the drug-delivery arena. I enjoyed the brainstorming sessions that we shared and their design work was accurate and reliable. I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs product development resources.
