Accelerate Your Medical Device into a Manufactured Product
ENDOSCOPIC VISUALIZATION
Over a Decade of Experience Focused on Custom Endoscopes

PROJECT
Plastic Lens-Element Prototype Endoscope Camera
CHALLENGE
Rapid prototype a custom optical design for evaluations
ACCELERATE
Optimized ray-trace design for Single Point Diamond Turning lenses from compatible plastics. Designed and machined lens-barrels and optomechanical alignment fixtures utilizing Omnivision Development-Boards.
RESULT
Produced working prototypes on schedule and budget for evaluation
PROJECT
Disposable Plastic Injection Molded (PIM) Endoscope Camera
CHALLENGE
Convert prototype design into a low-risk mold-able PIM design and release for multi-cavity tooling fabrication that cost $100k.
ACCELERATE
Revised prototype ray-trace for final lens material parameters. Designed sensor mounting, Flexible-circuit and PCB to align to PIM Lens-Barrel.
RESULT
Successfully worked with top- tier optical molder to produce in-tolerance parts across multi-cavity molds and manufactured into units meeting COGS targets
PROJECT
Glass Lens-Element Custom Endoscope Camera
CHALLENGE
Prototype, iterate and release to manufacture an all-glass endoscope visualization system suitable for re-sterilization
ACCELERATE
Iterated ray-tracing and optomechanical architecture to achieve manufacturable tolerances, released glass fabrication drawings, and precision machined Lens-Barrels concurrently with assembly & test fixtures.
RESULT
Manufacturing line established under ISO 13485 certifications to produce the first generation of cameras.
PROJECT
Fiber-Optic Laser Illumination
CHALLENGE
Uniformly illuminate the surgical FOV in the lowest possible profile while not introducing heat or EM interference near the sensor
ACCELERATE
A powerful and efficient remote 3-color laser source was designed to transmit energy to plastic launch optics.
RESULT
Multiple prototypes built and passed testing. Launch optics uniformly blended and illuminated the entire FOV. Patent pending.
PROJECT
Micro Endoscope
CHALLENGE
Prototype custom endoscope cameras with diameters less than 3mm.
ACCELERATE
Developed novel means of adapting Ball Grid Array Sensor-chip into a flexible cable while keeping within the spatial profile of the chip to meet final diameter specifications.
RESULT
Proof of concept prototypes produced with custom lens, aligned, tested, and sent to customer for evaluation.
A core aspect of the development of our endoscope device required design for manufacture improvements to reduce risks before making a significant tooling investment. Accelerate Design, having addressed these challenges before, knew exactly what to do and kept us on the fastest and most cost-effective path.
